A relaxed start to a new life
In Geboortecentrum Origine, you are assured of a warm welcome and a relaxed home-from-home environment. Furthermore, because the birth centre is located in the grounds of a hospital, you have the added benefit of specialist medical care.
Your well-being and the well-being of your child are central at Origine. That is why you and your partner are welcome from the early stages of labour and are invited to benefit from our ‘healing environment’. This is reflected in the luxurious, calm and friendly ambiance of the rooms, which are fitted with natural materials. A more detailed description of the rooms can be found under Practical information.
Origine also believes that it is important to create a welcoming ambiance. The relaxed atmosphere in the birth centre is designed to promote your and your child's well-being. This enables you to recover more quickly after giving birth and to enjoy and bond with your new-born as much as possible.
Situated in the hospital grounds
If you decide to give birth in Origine, you will be guided by your own midwife. She is assisted by a maternity nurse who will look after you during every stage of labour. Because Origine is located in the hospital grounds, specialist medical care can be swiftly arranged, should you inadvertently require it during childbirth. This ensures the best possible care at all times.
Post-natal comfort in Origine
If you wish, you can also spend (the first few days of) your post-natal period in Origine. You will stay in the same room and receive round-the-clock care by a team of professionals, who will help you and your partner to look after your child. This process is overseen by your own midwife, who has ultimate responsibility for your and your new-born’s well-being.
Needless to say, there will be ample opportunity for your family to support you during the post-natal period. Your partner can sleep in-house and there is also a family room that can accommodate your family and friends.
Post-natal care at home
After your stay in Origine, it is possible to receive post-natal care at home. This can be arranged by Careyn Kraamzorg. The exact number of hours of post-natal care at home depends on your length of stay in Origine. To register for post-natal care at home, please complete Origine's registration form.
Breastfeeding counselling is an inherent part of a relaxed post-natal period. Origine's maternity nurses will do everything they can to ensure you succeed in breastfeeding your baby. They possess of the Certificate of Commitment issued by WHO/UNICEF as part of its Baby-Friendly Initiative. If for whatever reason breastfeeding does not proceed smoothly, we will engage one of Careyn Kraamzorg's lactation experts. These breastfeeding counsellors specialise in offering help and advice in special circumstances. Some healthcare insurers will reimburse these costs. Please contact your healthcare insurer for further information.
